Have you checked your washer hoses lately?

We perform semi annual inspections of our properties and check for potential problems. We found this washer hose that was ready to burst. The hose was only a year old and should have lasted 5 years. If you have a washing machine, you should check your hoses monthly. A burst water hose can flood a home while you are at work or away and cause thousands of dollars of damage, which you are responsible for.

Here's how you can recognize a problem. A hose that is about to break will be bulging. Check for cracks and other wear. If there is any sign of moisture, dried buildup or bulging, shut off the water valve and replace the hose.
